Margaret A. Wilson

Attorney

Margaret’s substantial experience in many legal fields brings depth and perspective to her current practice, which is focused on probate and estate planning matters and in relevant aspects of business law. She was a partner at Vinson & Elkins LLP, which was at the time and continues to be the largest law firm in Houston. For 14 years at the firm, she tried civil lawsuits and handled complex litigation. While practicing full time at V&E, she also taught as an Adjunct Professor at South Texas College of Law in Houston.

Margaret has served as General Counsel to the Office of the Governor of Texas, and as Deputy General Counsel of the United States Department of Commerce.

In addition to her law practice, teaching, and service in both state and federal government, she has managed both the operational and legal aspects of her own businesses.

Margaret earned her B.A. in 1981 and J.D. in 1983, both summa cum laude, from Baylor University, where she was Associate Editor of the Baylor Law Review. She has been rated by her peers as AV Pre-Eminent for the last 25 years, which is the highest possible rating for both legal ability and ethical standards.

Margaret is a member of the Houston Bar Association. She is also a member of the State Bar of Texas and its Real Estate, Probate, Trust Law, Business Law, and Tax Law sections.

She is a Life Fellow of both the Houston Bar Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation and is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts and in the Supreme Court of the United States.
